Did you know....... in 1988 the occurence of autism in America was 1 in 10,000?
Did you know....... today it is 1 in 150????
Here is a very short excerpt from a website (title to follow) that is very near and dear to my heart:
"What is Autism? Autism is a neurological disorder that is characterized by varying degrees of impairment in communication skills, social interactions, and restricted and stereotyped patterns of behavior. 1 out of every 150 children are diagnosed with autism disorder. This equates to a child being diagnosed with autism every 20 minutes."
The above is from Caleb's Eyes.com at http://www.calebseyes.com/
The site is the creation of my daughter Christina and is dedicated
to my grandson Caleb, a little boy suffering and struggling with
autism. The front page of the site is the story of Caleb getting
very ill and my daughter's struggle to find out what was wrong
with her son. It is a touching and all too often repeated story by
moms all over this nation. The affliction we now know was the
onset of autism. The cause? Well, I'm not a doctor or a scientist,
only a grandfather and Dad who is heartbroken to watch his little
girl and his grandson go through all of this. But in my opinion
through much reading and research, the cause was linked to
the vaccinations Caleb had recently received. My little grand-
son is poisoned and the poison in his system could kill him.
His body is not absorbing what it needs from the food he
eats or the liquid he drinks. He is basically starving to death.
Is there an answer? We (my daughter, her husband, and our
whole family) certainly believe there is. Her website is one
way of getting the information out there, even as she herself
struggles to find the cure and return Caleb to the perfect little
boy he once was. This is what autism does. It abducts your
child and replaces he or she (it is 5 times more common in boys)
with a child in pain and suffering because they do not under-
stand what is happening to them.
I invite everyone who reads this blog to visit Caleb's Eyes.com
and read the story then gain the information contained on the
other pages of the site.
If you have a family member who is struggling to understand
autism it may be of some help. If you have seen a child with
autism perhaps it will help you to be more understanding to the
affliction. Either way, I urge you to visit. We MUST raise autism
awareness in this country. I believe our children are our future
and must be our priority. The earth may warm, the polar bears
may become extinct, but aren't our children so much more
important?? Without them we have no future!
